Cycling in The Netherlands

Cycle cycle and cycle!

Cycling in The Netherlands is not actually a sport (for us). In most countries people would say “oh yea I’m gonna cycle for a bit, little bit of gym” for us Dutchies it’s a lifestyle, it’s our main transportation. Just recently the Dutch population hit the 17 million. A fact is we have more bicycles than cars. There are approximately 10 million cars versus 20 million bicycles! fun fact right and all this with only 17 million people.

My dad and I are currently training for a tour (now we’re talking about a sport lol) that I have recently posted about (click here) called Eroica Britannia in England. We chose the 55 mile (88.5km), so with my condition I gotta train a little… ok a lot haha.

last Sunday we started our first little bit of training, of course you gotta build up so gotta take it slow right. we cycled the first 22km (13.7 mile) in an hour with a speed between 25-30 kph (15.5/18.5 mph), we took a break and had some lunch before we headed back.

In the featured image you can see the route that we took. On our way back we cycled an extra 12km (7.5 mile) so our first day was great and cycled a total of 56km (34.8 mile) At the end I think we deserved a drink hihi.

Since I was cycling I couldn’t of course take a lot of pictures. The ones that I did took were taken with my phone.
